Cinefiles: Three words summarize Oscar night: predictable, predictable, fabulous

Trigger warning: this is the first time I’ve watched almost every Best Picture nominee, usually I get through 1/2 of a Christopher Nolan movie then pass out, so this is a big deal for me, let me writher in my cynicism and bad dad jokes.

All is as it should be in the movie industry as Eddie Redmayne takes home Best Actor, Alejandro González Iñárritu grabs Best Director, and Birdman Best Picture. I’m currently writing this at 10:35 pm on Oscar night because so far, from clothing to the running suitcase schtick, the Academy Awards are as predictable as my burger order at 5 Guys (literally just a slab of beef and bun).

Anyhow, here’s the list of all the awards the audience of 1 billion people really care about:

Best Actor-Eddie Redmayne

He’ll fill his Empty Chairs and Empty Tables with Oscars

Best Actress- Julianne Moore

SHE’S JULIANNE F-ING MOORE, SHE’S BASICALLY MERYL STREEP’S UNDERSTUDY!!!!

Best Picture-Birdman

Hollywood loves a movie about Hollywood, it’s like your Jewish grandmother rooting for the Mets because they had that Jewish pitcher 15 years ago.

Best Soundmixing-….

haha nope, got you

Best Director- Alejandro González Iñárritu

And can someone explain why they didn’t have Lady Gaga present this?

Best Dressed- Jared Leto’s hair

I don’t care if it’s not clothing, it was still a better love story than 50 Shades of Gray
