Boys Indoor Track and Field:
Boys indoor track and field traveled to New Haven on February 1 to participate in the FCIAC Championships. Junior Ryan Boulanger set a school record in the 1 Mile race, with a time of 4:30, placing second overall. Junior Spencer Paine also took home second in the 600 Meter, contributing to the Rams’ eighth place finish. Next up is the CIAC Championships, where the boys will look to do even better.

Girls Indoor Track and Field:
In the girls indoor track and field FCIAC Championships on February 1, junior Lauren Smith broke the school record in the 4kg shot put event with a throw of 38′ 5.25. She took home first place, beating out the next competitor by three feet. Junior Charlotte Moor placed sixth in the 1 mile event with a time of 5:21.84. The Rams finished eleventh at the meet and now look to the CIAC Championships.

Boys Basketball:
Boys basketball fell to Stamford 51-39 on January 30, but was able to bounce back in a huge way, taking down rival Darien 49-47. Senior captain Fletcher Heron totaled 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 steals, leading the Rams to the narrow victory. Despite an off-shooting night for the team, senior captain and point guard Griffin Bramwit was able to seal the victory for New Canaan, making two free-throws with five seconds left. The boys’ victory was massive in keeping their playoff hopes alive, and now have a four game stretch against below .500 competition.

Girls Basketball:
Girl’s basketball continues to impress and is firmly in the mix to make the FCIAC playoffs. The girls went 2-1 last week, including a win over rival Darien and a loss to a 10-1 Stamford team. Senior captain Claire Ognibene stole the show against the Blue Wave, putting up a team high 16 points. The girls have four FCIAC games remaining, including three against below .500 opponents and are in a good position to return to the postseason.

Wrestling:
The wrestling program has continued its upward trajectory, already beating last season’s win total of three. Senior captain Trey Kaupp and junior Teddy Goetz continue to lead the team forward, and look to pick up their fifth win of the season against 0-6 St. Joes this Wednesday. The story of the week, however, is the FCIAC Wrestling Tournament looming on February 9, where the Rams will host.

Girls Ice Hockey:
The girls continued their dominant play last week, increasing their win streak to seven. Last week, the girls defeated both Greenwich and the East Catholic Co-op 5-0. Freshman goalie Macyn Callahan continued her stellar rookie season, and has had five shutouts in a row. The girls now turn their attention to Darien this Saturday, the only team they’ve lost to this season. The Blue Wave is tied for first in the FCIAC with the Rams at 11-1 (6-1 in conference) and their game on Saturday could determine who gets the one seed in the playoffs. New Canaan comes into the game ranked number one in the state and Darien is at two, setting up for what could be the game of the year.

Boys Ice Hockey:
The boys stayed hot since last week, winning all three of their games. The Rams defeated Woodstock Academy 3-1 and beat St. Joes twice. Senior captain Doster Crowell scored two of the goals against Woodstock, including an assist on the other. Additionally, in their 5-1 win over St. Joes, senior captain Max Lowe scored two.Overall Record: 13-2
