Pura Vida Dodgeball Tournament raises money for a cause

On Sunday, Mar. 18, students, parents and volunteers gathered at the high school gym for the annual Pura Vida Dodgeball Tournament. The Pura Vida club, who dedicates their time to raising awareness for starving children in impoverished countries such as Ghana and Costa Rica, saw a turn-out of 52 kids at the event.
Pura Vida holds third annual Flag Football Tournament

The Pura Vida club hosted their third annual flag football tournament Sunday, November 8 on the water tower field. There were 23 teams and 151 players.
Sharon Knechtle founded Pura Vida at NCHS four years ago after she went on a mission trip with students. They enjoyed the trip and weren’t ready to have it all end, she said. As a result, they decided to make a year-round club dedicated to helping the world’s impoverished people.
Pura Vida sends 100,000 meals to Haiti

This May, Pura Vida has lined up three interactive events in hopes of raising $17,000 to package 100,000 meals to send to hungry children in Haiti.
On Saturday and Sunday the non-profit organization and student club held an event at the school to pack the meals. On Saturday alone, 400 people volunteered and packaged some 60,000 meals.
In a further effort to reach their fundraising goal, the club held a pie toss on Thursday, May 6 during lunch; and on Sunday, May 23, there will be a 5k Fun Run…
