On Sept. 14, NCHS had its annual 9/11 assembly in the auditorium at 9:15 a.m. during periods 1 and 4. The goal of this assembly is to bring the school together to remember those who risked their lives 11 years ago, and show the strength and resilience of those impacted.

Summer Art Show success

On Thursday night during the Parents’ Open House, the new Summer Art Show will be featured in the lobby of NCHS.
The show highlights art specifically created this summer by both students and faculty and ranges from paintings, to poetry and even video presentations.

Tonight, Sept. 6, the annual parents’ night will be held at NCHS as an opportunity for parents to meet their child’s teachers. From 6:30-7 in the auditorium, there will be an orientation for parents of 9th grade students to welcome them to the high school.

Memorial Day festivities prepare to take flight

When integrated Union armies of the Civil War laid flowers on the graves of their fellow soldiers in 1865, they didn’t know they were starting a holiday that would become iconic in American culture. This holiday, then called “Decoration Day,” became steeped in American tradition, eventually becoming “Memorial Day.” Today, we celebrate Memorial Day as a way to recognize the efforts and sacrifices of veterans, both living and deceased.
