Since elementary school, rumors about school lunches have spread from mentions of rubber hot dogs to 400 calorie cookies. But do students actually know what’s in their grab-and-go cafeteria foods?

The NCHS cafeteria serves varied breakfast and lunch foods ranging from ice cream to prepared sandwiches. Though every day the cafeteria is crowded with hungry teens, the most students tend to know about the food is the name and what condiments can go with it.

When students filed into the familiar high school corridors for the first time in months, they were expecting a lot of new: new teachers, new dignified senior posters and the class of 2015. However there was a fresh adornment observing all of this from afar. Hung above the student calendar in the lounge, a mural appropriately named God’s Acre surveys the happenings of student life.

The Lounge gives you many opportunities to fail; so feel free to sit next to one of the upperclassmen either outside on their patio or just hop up on that aluminum looking ledge that juniors inhibit. They will love the attention they’re getting from you first timers, and the stories about a clueless freshman coming over to their ‘section in the lounge’ will be reminisced for days.
