The Access Awards provide an opportunity for K-12 students in Fairfield County to showcase their work in film, whether it be an animation, documentary, narrative piece and more. The goal is to allow students to produce content that is eligible to go on cable channel 78, while also advancing their skills in the art of filmmaking, producing and editing. The pieces get graded in a variety of categories which include creative impact, media usage and how effective the video is in terms of educating, inspiring and entertaining the audience.
To submit, the pieces must be uploaded to cable channel 78 by April 28 and have to follow certain guidelines. Some of the guidelines are abiding by the Copyright Pledge and given time limits, both of which are outlined on the A9CC website.
Winners will receive a certificate and a trophy, and the John Repicky Award will be given to the top project at each level (Elementary, Middle and High School). Judges can reassign awards based on quantity and quality of the work produced and their decisions will be final.
