Cablevision’s Educational Access Awards celebrated the work of NCTV and NC Film students after the students won a total of six awards. Any student’s work that aired on NCTV Channel 78 was eligible for an Award.

Among the film students recognized were senior Sam Reynolds who took home third place in the School Story category for his video “Army of Angels”, senior Graham Wagner who won third place in the Open Entry category for his video “Runaway”, and freshman Alice Gelhaus who won second place for her documentary, “Levai”.

Film teacher Jennifer Sinski was very involved in the process of producing Graham and Alice’s videos. “I worked with them side by side in class and it was great. They are very hard working, dedicated students who would spent a lot of time after school,” Ms. Sinski said.  “Based on their film, they knew they had something and I knew they had something, which made it all really click.”

NCTV also found success, winning third place in the news category of the competition for the Morning Announcements.  TV Broadcasting teacher Roman Cebulski was very pleased with the results. “I was very happy not only with the third place trophy, but I think all year the Morning Announcements team did an amazing job so its nice that they got some recognition,” Mr. Cebulski said

NCTV student, sophomore Connor DeMayo, earned immense recognition, winning first place for his PSA, “Get the msg?”. Connor also won the John M. Repicky Award and first place in the Open Entry category for his video on the British Virgin Islands.

While Connor didn’t know what to expect from the competition, he is very happy with the results, along with all of the other student winners. “Going into the contest I wasn’t sure my videos would hold up to the competition,” Connor said.  “But I am happy to see my hard work paid off.”
