On Wednesday, May 21, the Yellow Brick Road was rolled out as nominees for the 2025 New Age Film Festival walked into the Wagner room for a Wicked themed night. NCHS Film Club, led by mixed media teacher Jennifer Sinski, hosted this special night with nominees from high schools all over Fairfield County. In total, there were 18 awards presented with 11 given to NCHS students. To watch the full award ceremony, click HERE. The student-led event was hosted by seniors Victoria Fromzel as Glinda and Maggie Marshall as Elphaba, music was performed by senior Celina Savage and the raffle was held by senior Pranav Sant.

The event consisted of new and returning students with two jurors being New Canaan alumni. Claire Ayoub, from the graduating class of 2007, is a writer and director based in Brooklyn, NY as well as a manager of the ‘Try Anyway’ production company. To watch her speech click HERE. The second juror and alumni was Ethan Jones, from the graduating class of 2021, who’s passion for filmmaking brought him opportunities at renowned film production companies and exclusive film classes. To watch his speech click HERE. The third juror was Justin Matley. Founder of ‘Black Oak Sound’, Mr. Matley is an award winning sound designer and music director on many projects aired globally. One of the senior interns running the event was Pranav Sant who held the raffles and helped with the overall set-up. “One thing that made the night special is definitely the theme of Wicked,” he said. “We didn’t have one like it last year and we will hopefully have it again in years to come.”
