One of this years’ winter and upcoming spring trends are going to be power pants. Power pants are a pair of statement pants that draw the focus of an outfit. In past years this has meant all sorts of things, from tightly fitted materials, to cropped pants, to see-through, but this year it is all about the standout colors, bold patterns, and different textures.
Below are images of Louis Vuitton and Gucci Couture from one of this years’ winter/spring fashion week shows:
You don’t have to wear couture in order to be fashionable, you just need to know a few tips about following fashion in order to be at the top level. Below are some examples on things that will be easy to get your hands on, as most are from Urban Outfitters or up-cycled from thrift stores.
With spring on the way and this season’s idea of ‘power pants,’ these lavender corduroys are the way to go. Paired with these brightly colored pants is an over sized, tie dye, long sleeve t-shirt. Allowing these pants to move away from a preppier look and shooting towards an edgier, street-wear look. Of course, it is finalized with some trendy, layered, chunky gold necklaces and a classic pair of blue checkered vans to create a unique look.

This is another example of ‘power pants’ being put to use. Another pair of colorful cords, however this time they are a bright yellow pair, paired with a retro pattern windbreaker and a white knit top. Again this look is finished off with chunky gold necklaces and a sleek pair of classic black boots.
The middle image really captures the entire idea of pattern, on texture, on color, meaning that when styling an outfit you are encouraged to mix it up and wear multiple materials all in one outfit. Each article of clothing has to compliment each other. By the jacket being the center of attention a nice knit top is a great way of being a subtle attribute to the outfit. To tie it all together, the corduroys are a nice, bright, pop of color that add a little more personality to the outfit rather than wearing just jeans.
