The beginning of any season brings an exciting opportunity to clear out your closet and make way for a contemporary and exciting wardrobe. But in the end, spring tops all others. After months of Barbour jackets and Fyey boots, students everyone can peel off the sweaters and leggings to begin their fashion rebirth. In a time of year fraught with endless colors, patterns, material and design possibilities, spring is the time to really make a mark.
Luckily for you, spring has sprung at Caren Forbes! One of my favorite stores for the girls of NC, Caren is bigger and better for the best time of the year and is the go-to for anything springy. Be sure to stop by “the boutique at the top of the stairs” to check out some of my favorite items.
Pastel Scarves.
These scarves are the perfect way to add a pastel to your ensemble that can go with so many different pieces. This spring piece has a noticeably longer length for wearing versatility, paired perfectly with a jean jacket or simply over a white tank. The variation of sorbet colors took over the spring runway and presented a fresh new take on a sole preppy look. I think these scarves are a great way to ease into the spring and summer looks without diving right into florals and hot pinks.
Statement jewelry.
Caren Forbes takes ROYGBIV to a whole new level with statement necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings in literally every color and every style. From different size bubble necklaces to spiked cuffs, there is something for everyone. The store’s spring statement jewelry is eye-drawing and fashion forward, and when it comes to your rings, bangles and cuffs, bigger is definitely better. Caren did a fantastic job picking pieces fitting for proms, graduations, or even Mother’s day gifts. Definitely something to look out for.
Signature clutches.
I walked into the store and saw a collection of clutches that I thought would be perfect for prom. With enough room to carry your phone, make-up, and wallet, without the annoyance of having to carry a full purse, these clutches seem to be the perfect accessory for prom. I also think they’ll photograph well and add an extra pop! As Rachel Zoe once said “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak” and these clutches seem like a great way to add a personal touch to your prom look and shine a little brighter.
Graduation dresses.
Senior girls may be under the impression that since “everyone wears (basically) the same thing” to graduation, your white dress will go unnoticed, giving you the perfect opportunity to slack. Unfortunately senioritis only applies to your 4th quarter grades and never a fashion opportunity. Luckily for you, Caren Forbes is filled with white and eggshell dresses that are ideal for graduation or any spring event for that matter! Easy to dress up with a bubble necklace or a navy cardigan, pair the dress of your choice with a Jack Rogers or nude wedges and you’re good to go! Make graduation your final opportunity to “wow” people; don’t just blend into a sea of whites.
Neon shorts.
Last but not least, I loved the neon colored shorts I saw hanging in neon yellow, coral, and lime. With the upcoming Luke Bryan and DMB concerts well on their way, stop by Caren for the ideal spring short and take on the lawn with pride. If you’re concerned that brighter isn’t the way to go, just remember that a little neon never hurt anyone.
