Sports week of 3/2

Boys hockey — The boys have a rematch with Ridgefield in the FCIAC semifinal on Wednesday. The guys blanked Ridgefield 2-0 last time the two teams met. Should they advance, they will face either Greenwich or Darien in the FCIAC final on Saturday.

  • FCIAC semifinal: Wednesday, 3/4, 6:00 pm vs Ridgefield
  • FCIAC final: Saturday, 3/7, 5:45 pm vs TBD @ Dorothy Hammill

Girls hockey — Trying to rebound from a tough loss to Darien in the FCIAC final, the girls play Suffield in their first game in the state tournament.

  • CIAC quarterfinals: Saturday, 3/7, 6:40 pm vs Suffield co-op

Boys basketball — Though the bracket is not official yet, the 13-seed boys will host the 20-seed Bloomfield in the first round of the CIAC tournament.

  • CIAC first round: Time TBD vs Bloomfield

Girls basketball — The 19-seed girls team kicks off their state tournament campaign on Tuesday, as they match up with 14-seed E.O. Smith.

  • CIAC Class L first round: Tuesday, 3/3, 6:00 pm @ E.O. Smith

Wrestling — Despite the team’s season ending, Tyler Sung heads to Methuen, MA for the 2020 New England Wrestling Championships this weekend. Starting on Saturday, 3/7 and ending on Sunday, 3/8, the tournament features 32 of the best wrestlers from around the northeast, and is a single elimination format. Sung will be wrestling in the 152 lb weight class. Should he place high enough, Sung can qualify for the national tournament later this month.
