With winter break on its way, everyone is dying to find the perfect holiday ensemble. Have no fear! It’s time to sparkle and shine with winter’s hottest trend: sequins! Think you can’t do glamour and glitz without looking like a contestant on Dancing With The Stars? Well, think again. Whether it be for casual daytime ensemble, date night or a holiday party, sequins can be worn the right way for any occasion. Flatter your assets and add a little fun to classic pieces with these tips on how to wear sequins for your body.
If your body is…
Petite: Get sexy in a short, sequined skirt. This embellished take on the bodycon skirt will instantly glam up any outfit, while the short hemline will make your delicate legs appear longer. Remember to keep it classy by pairing it with a modest top.
Athletic: Fabulously cinch your waist with a large, embellished belt. To further enhance curves, pair with a flowy dress. The belt will accentuate your waist while the dress will add femininity and enhance curves.
Tall: Go big! Who needs puny paillettes when you can go totally oversized? Larger sequins bring a sophisticated twist and balance perfectly with your height. Major sequins make a major statement!
Pear Shaped: For a fun twist on a classic piece, try a sequined blazer. If you want to be bold, add small shoulder pads for an extra oomph. A sequined jacket that skims the hip will play up your delicate top half and flatter your bottom half by bringing the eye up. Show off your booty with your favorite curve hugging pants.
Cone Shaped: Try embellished pants, if you dare. Sequined pants will fill out your backside and bring attention away from your heavier top. To keep from looking over-the-top, pair your blingin’ bottoms with solid basics and simple accessories.
Apple Shaped: Look for simple silhouettes that will stream over your curvy tummy. Tshirts, drape-front jerseys and halters that are accented with or covered in sequins are perfect for you. Finish off with skinny pants, leggings, or jeans to show of your slim legs, and wear great heels!
An Hourglass: You’ve got the body to go bold! You can pull off a sequined dress in an eye-catching color. Make sure the dress isn’t too short—it should skim your curves and hug your narrow waist. Remember to keep hair and accessories simple.
Curvy: Sequined accessories won’t look overpowering on your body. Small sequined accents throughout an outfit will bring the eye towards what you want to flaunt. Feel free to keep it subtle, or go all out with bright accessories!
