Members of the senior class will be strutting down the runway on Mar. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in order to raise money for Senior Post Prom. Seniors will walk the runway wearing many different outfits as fellow students, family, and faculty join to watch the show. This gives the senior class the opportunity to raise money for their own Post Prom.

Carol Howe and Connie Piotroski, who both have children in the senior class, are leading the Post Prom committee in organizing the fashion show. “We are expecting to provide a very fun and upbeat show for seniors to strut their stuff on the catwalk,” Mrs. Howe said. “We are hoping to have, of course, the support of the senior class, but also want to encourage all classes to attend this major fundraiser for Post Prom.”

The adults on the committee, along with the senior class, have put in a lot of effort to make the fashion show happen. “There are various stages of planning,” Mrs. Piotroski said. “First and foremost is generating an idea, forming a committee, recruiting models, approaching vendors and ultimately coordinating everything to come together to support our theme.”

In previous years, just enough money has been raised to successfully host Post Prom, but this year the committee is hoping for a better outcome. “We hope to raise $10,000 which is a bit higher from past years, but we are confident that the class of 2014 will give their utmost support to this event,” Mrs. Piotroski said. “It is very expensive to put on the Post Prom party, and this is a way for the senior class to help in a fun environment with a sense of accomplishment in helping the end cause.”

In order to raise more money than in previous years, a few adjustments are being made to the way the fashion show is being run. “We want a fresh, new vibe with the fashion show,” Mrs. Howe said. “This year is a totally new theme, which will bring continuity to the show beginning to end. It will be broken up into segments, incorporating our theme with a finale of formal wear.”

After coming up with a theme for the show, the committee approached different vendors in order to dress the senior participants. “We have confirmed, as of February 7, A Step Ahead in Stamford as a vendor, which will provide our young ladies with prom wear and Camillo’s in Norwalk which will be providing our young men with Formal Wear,” Mrs. Howe said. “We have also confirmed The Darien Sport Shop and will be approaching many of our local New Canaan merchant’s stores.”

The seniors will not find out what clothing they will be sporting until the end of the month. “As soon as the vendors are selected and confirmed, the committee chairs for the models will match up where they go to get their attire,” Mrs. Piotroski said.

Despite not knowing, the students are already accepting of what they are going to wear for the show. “I have no clue what I’m going to wear, or when I find out, but I’m down to wear anything,” senior Tommy Cronin said.

Besides the fact that the fashion show is a fundraiser for Post Prom, it is also a fun activity for the seniors to participate in. “I signed up because I think it will be a fun prom themed event to spend time with friends,” Tommy said.

Senior Liz Gordon agrees that the fashion show will be fun to participate in. “I signed up because it seems fun to dress up and a lot of my friends are doing it too,” she said.

Students have signed up and are excited to raise money for their Post Prom. Tommy is excited to raise money for Post Prom while getting a chance to spend time with his friends. “I’m hoping to have fun with other seniors while getting a chance to hit the runway.”
