Monday, September 30, was Senior Night for Girls Soccer and it was filled with joy and smiles as New Canaan shut out Westhill 3-0.

Once again it was striker and sophomore sensation Clare Greisen scoring first for the Rams, putting her team up 1-0 just 90 seconds after checking into the game. Clare picked the pocket of a Westhill defender and fired the ball to the left of the keeper, prompting a loud cheer from the New Canaan soccer community in attendance.

With 13:45 remaining in the first half, and just two minutes after her first goal, Clare netted her second of the night off a feed from senior captain Sydney Patten. It was her team-leading 12th goal of the year.

Throughout the game, the Rams controlled the entire field, earning multiple corners and free-kick opportunities. With 13:15 remaining in regulation, these opportunities finally materialized. A beautiful set piece from senior captain and Lehigh commit Paige Place found the head of Ceci Patterson, who redirected the ball to give the Rams a 3-0 lead.

The Rams are now 8-2 on the season, riding a seven game win streak and sitting third in the FCIAC standings. The team now turns their attention to Bridgeport Central, who they will travel to on Friday, October 4.
