Hi! I’m Hannah Herde, this year’s Senior Prom Chair. For my senior project, I’m studying All Things Prom. For the class, we have to keep a journal. Since I’m attempting to compile a book or website all about planning prom from both a personal and Committee level, I thought I would keep a blog and release some of my entries online to the public. The Courant Online asked me if they could also release those entries.
The objective of my blog is to document my process with Prom as Chair (What should the Committee do? What are some obstacles that the Chair and the Committee run into?) and as a senior in high school (How should I do my hair? Where do you find a dress or tux?). I also want to look at Prom and its equivalents around the country and world, in pop culture, and its history. Where did this tradition come from? How has it evolved over time? These are some of the questions I am trying to answer.
Please feel free to send/post your thoughts either at http://secretsofprom.blogspot.com or to nchspromcommittee2010@gmail.com. I really welcome all input. Also, if you have an experience you would like to share, please, contact me, post it – share it with all of us. Prom is an American Tradition and there is so much to consider and explore.
Thanks,
the prom chair
