On Saturday the Collegeboard will be administering the SAT Reasoning Test. NCHS is not a testing center for this test, and therefore students are taking the test at either Darien High School, Westhill High School, or Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

The Collegeboard only offers the Reasoning Test on the March test date, so students who wish to take a Subject Test must wait until the May or June test date.

For many juniors, this day will be the first time they will sit for an SAT Reasoning Test, and the results will provide them with an indication of their standpoint regarding colleges. However, the Collegeboard provides other testing dates for students to retake the Reasoning Test in May, June, October, November, and December.

The SAT Reasoning test, according to the Collegeboard website, “Assesses critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the areas of critical reading, mathematics, and writing.” The test consists of 10 sections. Critical reading, mathematics, and writing are each three sections of the test, and there is an additional, unscored section in one of the three disciplines.

If students missed the March deadline, they can sign up to take the May Reasoning Test by March 31st. The cost of taking the test, provided students sign up before the deadline, is $45.
