Recapping 2024 fall fashion trends

Recapping 2024 fall fashion trends

As we move into November, the season of fall is almost over and in order to commemorate this, I want to explore some 2024 fall fashion trends.

When I think of fall fashion, a few essentials always come to mind: red nails, Ugg boots, knitwear, and warm tones. These staples reappear each year, and I’m always excited to bring them back into my rotation.

Red Nails

There’s just something timeless about a red manicure. While I often opt for red-polish year round, they take on a special warmth in the fall, especially when paired with rich, autumnal tones. It’s one of those small but impactful ways to have a pop of color in an outfit that never feels out of place.

Ugg Boots

While there are some opponents of Ugg boots, I am personally a fan. They are comfortable, easy to put on, and complement almost any outfit. I wear the platform one’s which are especially polarizing, but as I reflect on fashion over the past ten years Ugg boots have been involved in at least some capacity. Despite some occasional tripping due to the slippery nature of the soft soles Ugg boots are a  quintessential fall item I look forward to each year.

Knitwear

Fall without knitwear? Impossible. Knitwear perfectly embodies the cozy essence of the season that is fall. I’ve noticed this year’s knitwear pieces are either chunky with bright colors or are monochromatic with a more elegant feel. Whether it’s a slouchy oversized sweater or a fitted button down, knitwear is one of those styles that makes me look forward to fall.

Leopard Print

Animal prints are bold, and I can appreciate leopard print’s wild, statement-making quality specifically in the trending sambas. However, I think it’s one of those prints that will always come and go. While a touch of animal print can be a fun accent, I think it will fade and reappear again as a micro-trend rather than a fall essential.
Bows

I do appreciate an occasional bow, but over the past year I have seen them everywhere, and I now think they are overdone. Bows are undoubtedly cute, but after seeing them nonstop on hair, clothing, and accessories, I am officially sick of them. I think bows work best as a subtle accent, and hopefully they’ll wane soon before resurfacing in a more restrained way.
