Every winter, math teachers host a Math Music Video contest. This is a way to allow students to get creative and share what they have learned in math with other students while also having fun.

Involving yourself in the Math Music Video can help you explore the opportunity of friendship. “The students creating the video do it because it is an extracurricular enjoyment that you can do with your friends,” former Math Music Video creator Audrey Bloom said.

Although doing this with a group of friends is an upside, there can also be some downsides. “It can be hard to agree on a song or math topic, so make sure you and your friend are all on the same page,” Audrey said.

With the expression of the music video, you can also win a prize. “This is a way for students who are musically savvy or creative to gain extra credit and possibly win an Amazon gift card, It’s a nice way to go into the holiday season,” math teacher Anthony Bloss said.

The math teachers wanted a way for students to show off any skills they had to offer. “The Math Music Video Contest was created to give students another way to demonstrate their understanding of key mathematical concepts,” Mr. Bloss said. “We are fully aware of how talented our student body is, and we wanted to give them a way to show their talents and creativity.”
