Once again, Apple has come out with another innovative device that takes the Multi-Touch screen to a whole new level. Scheduled to be in stores on Saturday April 3rd, the iPad is a seemingly larger version of the iTouch and iPhone. It has the same apps, but with a few more features such as vivid photo lighting and HD videos that can be watched on YouTube. As the debut of the iPad nears, excitement grows among the student body.
Many students are anticipating the iPad’s in-store arrival. “It’s so fetch! Of course I want one,” sophomore Olympia Bordelon said. “I can’t wait until it’s in stores so I can try out the apps on the bigger screen!”
Junior Sam Salvo agrees that the bigger screen will be worth the buy. “Apps will definitely be better on the bigger screen,” she said. “It will also be easier to read newspapers or Facebook as opposed to reading on an iTouch.”
There will be several built-in apps to accommodate students, workers, travelers, including an application called iBook, which shares the same concept as Amazon’s Kindle. “The Kindle has competition,” freshmen Ryan Prindle said. “But, I’m sure people will like the iPad more because it’s in color, unlike the Kindle.”
Students are also interested in the Notes app which has been improved to be quick to use and spacious. “I would probably buy it [the iPad]to use as an organizer to write down homework, or use the calendar instead of the iTouch/iPhone, which is smaller,” freshmen Sammi Curtain said.
There are many uses to this new invention, but some people feel that there’s still something lacking. “It’s a smart idea but something is definitely missing,” senior Eric Evensen said. “It needs a camera—how could Apple forget something like that?”
A camera isn’t the only thing missing. “I will buy it when it is Flash enabled,” history teacher Kristine Goldhawk said. “I will be in line for one when they do that.”
Some people are just not feeling the hype over Apple’s newest invention. “It’s alright…you should only buy one if you don’t have an iTouch,” junior Drew Goldsholl said. “It might be a waste of money for some people.”
Although some indicate that the iPad is unnecessary, people know that Apple has been successful in selling its many gadgets. “Everything Apple makes is usually sold,” sophomore Megan Paul said. “If you’re into that kind of thing, then go for it.”
