Are you staying home this summer and wish you were going somewhere more exciting? It’s easy to forget that there is plenty to do around Fairfield County, from cliff jumping to concerts. So whether you grab some friends or go by yourself, make the best of summer 2019.

Xfinity Concerts:

With an outdoor lawn and seats up front, the Xfinity Center in Hartford is the perfect place to go with friends or family for a concert. It is easy to take a train or Uber to Hartford for around 100-150 dollars, split between friends. The tickets are usually never more than fifty dollars for the lawn, and not unreasonably expensive for the inside portion of the venue. Here is a list of the best concerts available this summer:

It only takes around an hour to get to Xfinity Center, which is a pretty cheap uber split three or more ways with your friends!

Dave Matthews Band – June 22

Blink 182 and Lil Wayne – June 29

Wiz Khalifa – July 13

Florida Georgia Line – July 19

Brad Paisley – August 29

Zac Brown Band – September 8

Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience – September 11

Around Fairfield County there are many places that are perfect for a nice relaxing sunset to end your day. Christine Poteroba, junior and sunset enthusiast, says the best spots are Rowayton, Weed Beach in Darien, and Waveny in New Canaan. Devin Findlay, another junior, said, “I love to bring some friends, maybe get some pizza and set up a picnic either at Waveny or Bayley Beach in Rowayton.”

Cliff Jump:

Some students like to go cliff jumping in their free time; finding the best spot, and spending the day outside on the water. “I think that the best place to get the most thrilling jump is at Lake Waccabuc. It is 60 feet high and the water is warm, plus there are no rocks to be worried about,” said Walker Swindell, a Junior at the high school. “I hear about these places from older kids in the school and from my brothers friends who did this when they were at the high school.”

Walker also gave some tips about cliff jumping. “Definitely do a depth check for rocks so you do not get hurt when you jump,” he said. “All you need is some some refreshments and a bathing suit.”
