The spooky season is upon us. Children marching down streets, teenagers scampering across yards, parents strolling through neighborhoods; all in pursuit of some wonderfully delicious halloween treats. Some made of chocolate, some chewy and fruity, regardless of the form it takes, candy remains a coveted sweet every year on October 31st. In order to determine what candy you should be trying to collect the most this year, we asked several students here at the high school. Below are what New Canaan students regard as the top five candies.
- Kit Kat
What some may deem a surprising pick for number one, many students agreed on the chocolatey Kit Kat for its delicious flavor, and wonderfully crunchy wafer.
- Reeses Cups
No one was surprised when the votes started to roll through for this marvelous candy, “The chocolate outside with a peanut butter inside will never go wrong,” said NCHS student Brandon Ma.
- Twix
The beloved chocolate candies continue to take top places, Twix, a Halloween classic, slots at number three. The Twix bar is certainly a great option for halloween night, as chocolate and caramel is definitely a dynamic duo.
- Starburst
The first non-chocolate candy to make the list is Starburst. A chewy candy with an abundance of fruity flavors never disappoints. While choosing between the flavors, an NCHS student said, “The starbursts’ colors rank red, pink, orange, yellow.”
- Skittles
To finish off the list, we have the widely popular Skittles picked at number five. From green and red, to orange and purple, there is a skittle for everyone, a sure reason for its large fan base.
