The snow has melted, flowers are starting to bloom, and teenagers everywhere are once again wearing flip-flops. With spring break well on its way, teens are attempting to attain the perfect ensemble for Spring 2011. Spring is a time of rebirth, so why not renew yourself with a closet full of the most up and coming trends? This spring, shawl collar cardigans, bright-checkered oxfords, and white top sider Sperrys are necessary. Furthermore, plaids, radiant check button-downs, and bright Polos are all compelling options for upper wear. This spring’s theme is drawn from the idea of mixing formal pieces with more casual items to create a medium chic look.

Striped hooded rugbies and a classic pair of blue jeans can be added together to create a simpler look for casual occasions, or combine a popover hoodie with a striped T-shirt and a basic white pant. You can also do a slub stripe full-zip jacket with a white or navy V-neck T-shirt and ripped jeans. For an everyday school look, lightweight vintage Polos are the ideal to portray a laid back preppy image. They go well with any kind of pant and don’t give off the impression that you are trying to hard. Also, the untucked checkered oxford will always go well with a cardigan with the sleeves rolled up. Finally, bright colored shorts always work well with spring tops.

As we battle through the rainy month of April, it is imperative to bear in mind that these next few weeks are a time when we can look our best. On a rainy day, the Barbour equestrian Bedale jacket is the best item that anyone can pull off. A Barbour jacket, Burberry trench, or regulation peacoat all work well with End-on-End pocketed utility shirts and a medium colored jean.

Stay away from any kind of flannel this season; it needs to be left in the attic with the holiday decorations. In addition, avoid heavy sweaters and turtlenecks. Some crucial accessories to have in your backpack include the original Ray-Ban aviators, Timex vintage field army watch, and Rugby skulls and bones belt.

This spring is a time for us to put our best foot forward and rise to our fullest potential, while doing so well dressed and looking great. Its preppy, both casual and formal, and easy to mix and match.
