To top off an almost perfect season the girls hockey team was able to pull out an FCIAC and State Championship title. Overcoming Greenwich for FCIAC, and Darien for States both with a final score of 3-1. The three goals coming from sophomore Anika Curri and freshman Kaleigh Harden and Grace Crowell in the state championship game.
After falling to Greenwich earlier in the season, the girls were able stand their ground and take the win the second time around.
Senior co-captain Kara Fahey is a 3 year varsity player who brings a lot of experience to the team. “We did it as a team and worked hard to get to those two games and we were ready for whatever they threw at us,” she said.
The first time the girls faced Darien they tied 1-1. It was a nail biter that went down to the final seconds. “Being able to come and face off against Darien was amazing, we really wanted to just get out there and win” said Kara.
With the gain of many standout freshman such as Kaleigh Harden and Grace Crowell the team was expected to be inexperienced. But the lady rams came out on top once again to prove the critics wrong.
“It was the perfect season and I couldn’t have asked for anything more, I’m glad we ended the way we did,” said Kara. With a perfect season on their back the girls are ready for another perfect season for the upcoming 2019 season.
Senior co-captain Jess Eccleston, sophomore goalie Blythe Novick, and freshmen Kaleigh Harden were named to the all State team and FCIAC first team and freshman Grace Crowell was also named all FCIAC first team.
