On Monday, John Seigenthaler was a guest speaker at an assembly during E period. The topic of discussion was Freedom Riders and Seigenthaler’s participation in the Civil Rights movement. Seigenthaler was hospitalized when he tried to help Freedom Rider Susan Wilbur, who was being chased by an angry mob. He was the editor of The Tennessean, and served as an administrative assistant to Robert F. Kennedy where we was the sole witness to a meeting between Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.
Students and teachers were given an opportunity to ask Mr. Seigenthaler questions about his life and the time period.
