Boys football, after an unexpected loss in the season opener to Shelton, has climbed their way back to a 8-1 record heading into the Turkey Bowl. The Rams look to increase their winning streak to 9 and take down rival Darien on Thanksgiving day.
The Rams most recently took down Brien McMahon 42-6, with big performances from Junior Alex Russey and Senior Cooper Smith. Alex threw for 121 yards, including a huge 40 yard touchdown pass, while Cooper ran for 113 yards and 2 Touchdowns.
Senior Captain Ben Reagan is keeping the same mindset for the Turkey Bowl. “Hopes and expectations remain the same, we expect to win,” he said.”
The Rams will rely on Junior QB Luke Robinson as well as their dominant defense to power through Darien and the coming CIAC playoffs. The Rams are predicted to be the No. 2 seed in the Class L CIAC playoffs, but may have to face the Shelton Gaels, who handed them their only defeat.
