On February 27th, the boys hockey team played in the FCIAC Semifinals versus the Greenwich Cardinals. Although it was their first game in over a week, the Rams dominated from start to finish; the final score was 10-1, with eight different Rams scoring a goal. The week off gave the undefeated Rams much needed time to both rest and recover.

The semifinal was one of the Rams’ better offensive performances, showcasing one of their strengths this season – depth. Senior Captain Bryce Lyden had three points in the game, including his 100th career point.

Next up is the FCIAC Championship on Tuesday, March 4, against the third-ranked Ridgefield Tigers. The game will be played at Martire Arena on the campus of Sacred Heart University.

The Ram-Tiger battle is a rematch of last year’s FCIAC championship when the Rams prevailed 3-2 in overtime. Just like last year, the Rams won both regular season meetings, with final scores of 2-0 and 6-1.

The Tigers come off a thrilling 2-1OT victory over second-ranked Darien. Angelo Ciminello was the hero for Ridgefield, winning the game by deflecting the puck past Darien goaltender Shaeffer Repsher.

Goaltending is going to be magnified under the bright lights and both teams have strong goalies with New Canaan’s Brendon Harmon and Ridgefields James Britton. Britton was sensational against Darien with multiple breakaway stops and timely saves and looks to have just as good if not better.

Tonights FCIAC Championship will be live streamed on both NCTV and DAF Media with puck drop slated for 8:00 PM.
