Falling into Autumn Trends

Fall is quickly approaching which means it’s time for a wardrobe upgrade to suit the weather and new trends. This fall’s it-list is strongly influenced by military, different shades of green, mixed textures, and boots in any style. Thrown all together, this look may be a little too bold for school. But by implicating just a few pieces into your wardrobe, you’ll be set for the season. The following are pieces that I think would be easy to include in an everyday outfit.

The military jacket

These are easy to add to any fall outfit and essential when the weather begins to get a little chillier. These jackets tend to be a much more structured than your ordinary North face or pull over. So if you’re not used to that, try finding a military inspired cardigan. Pieces inspired by the military trend tend to have distinct details—tarnished hardware, accent buttons, and neutral/ dark colors. It won’t be hard to spot these in the next couple of months.

The Mini/bandage/body-con skirt

This isn’t necessarily a new trend, but it’s been a popular piece in fall collections on runways and in Europe. These skirts are usually tight, high-waist, and huge every curve. Make this piece appropriate by wearing a loose v-neck tee tucked into the skirt and wearing a pair of flats. A military inspired jacket or sweater can also be added to finished off the look and to add a little more modesty

Rough, rugged, or leather—just grab some boots

You need some tough looking boots this season, and I’m talking about wimpy Uggs. Invest in a good pair of leather boots that will last, because this trend won’t be getting old anytime soon. They won’t get wet (like unreliable Uggs even if you spray-water-proof them) and they will be a closet staple. You just can’t go wrong by pairing them with skinny jeans, leggings, or the body-con skirt. Make sure the boots suit your body type. For example, if you have short legs like me, stay away from boots that cut right above the ankle—this will make your legs look even shorter.

Forest and Army Green

Have some forest or army green in your wardrobe. Weather it may be your school tote, military jacket, body-con skirt, or boots have something forest green. It’s the it-color of the season and will be very easy to incorporate into fall outfits.
