April 29, 2014
Dear Students,
As you may be aware, Dr. Mary Kolek is retiring as Superintendent of Schools on June 30, 2014. I am thrilled to announce that, at a special meeting on Tuesday afternoon, the Board of Education invited me to serve as Interim Superintendent for the 2014-2015 school year. Although I will miss being your principal next year, this is a wonderful opportunity to work with the entire New Canaan Public School community on behalf of all students K-12.
As Interim Superintendent, one of my most important responsibilities will be to ensure a successful transition in building leadership at the high school next year. I am very proud of our high school and all that we have accomplished together, and I am deeply committed to continuing that great work on your behalf. In the next few days, I will be working with Dr. Kolek, Mr. Kass, Director of Human Resources, and the entire central office team to outline a process to appoint an interim principal for next year. Throughout the process, we will be committed to finding a person who is equally committed to ensuring that every student has an excellent experience at NCHS.
As we conclude the year together, please be sure that I remain fully committed to my role as principal, and that I will continue to do everything I can to ensure that each of you has an excellent school year. We’ll have a lot to celebrate over the next few weeks, and I’m confident we will have a successful conclusion to the school year in June. I have always been immensely proud to be the principal of NCHS – first and foremost, because all of you are such outstanding young adults.
Warmest Regards,
Dr. Luizzi
