Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen’s erratic behavior and deplorable comments have everyone wondering: What’ wrong with him? Over the years we have watched celebrities breakdown; from Britney smashing an umbrella into a windshield, to Michael Jackson’s multiple surgeries, we have all witnessed the effects that can result from Hollywood stardom. In a matter of months, Charlie Sheen has dislocated his reputation from the highest paid actor on television, to a person who has the entire nation sitting at home, with their mouths dropped by his actions.

A star by the age of 21, Sheen had already battled years of drug abuse. However, he was able to manage to successfully continue his career, earning over 1.25 million per episode. Media speculation started to circulate the actor this previous summer after he checked into the Plaza hotel and caused over $7,000 of damage. The police found him completely naked, admitting later to drinking and using cocaine the night of the incident. It is his most recent actions though that have left America absolutely flabbergasted.

In February 2010, Sheen had publicly announced that he would be taking a leave of absence from the show to voluntarily enter a rehabilitation facility. His representative announced that the actor had signed an agreement to continue the show for another two years. After the hotel accident, Sheen began a substance program in his own home, ensuing the show’s hiatus. In an early March interview, he demanded a 50% raise for the show, attempting to earn over three million dollars an episode. After his derogatory comments about Chuck Lorre this past February, he was banned from Warner Bros. studios and production sets. On March 7, 2011, CBS and Warner Bros. fired Sheen from Two and a Half Men. In attempts to replace his character, actors Jerry O’Connell and Donny Osmond have all been billed as suitable replacements for Charlie Sheen’s character for the continuation of the sitcom.

As of March 1, Sheen was simultaneously living with pornographic actress Bree Olsen and model designer Natalie Kenly, whom he cooperatively nicknamed his “goddesses.” His two children were immediately removed from his home and when asked if he would legally fight for his children, Sheen texted People, “Born ready. Winning” Later that week, he announced a nationwide tour entitled “My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not An Option”, which premiered in Detroit on April 2.

Has Charlie Sheen really gone insane? Many believe that he may have bipolar disorder or post-traumatic stress. There are also numerous theories that Sheen may be rehearsing for a role similar to Heath Ledger’s actions before taking on the role of The Joker in Batman. Though we have seen many celebrity meltdowns, we have also seen the comebacks of popular icons such as Britney Spears and Madonna. Can Charlie Sheen pull it all together and get back onto the right track? So the question remains.
