Freshman phenomenon Chase Maggio is taking NCHS by storm. Known for his buzzing personality and anonymous Instagram fan account, Chase has quickly become a local celebrity.

His rise to fame began at the October 23rd football game when he went viral on Tik Tok. The Tik Tok, which now has over one million views, shows Chase leading the Bomb Squad in the classic “I believe that we will win” cheer, but with a twist. “I said it wrong,” Chase said. “Instead, I say I believe that we can win. People thought it was funny.”

Chase is also a social media sensation on Instagram. The Instagram account dedicated to him, @chasemaggio_spotted, has over 420 followers and over 120 posts. Students snap photos of, or with Chase and then direct message them to the account to post.

The Instagram first started as an inside joke between the account owner (who would like to remain anonymous), their friends and Chase. “We would see Chase everywhere: every mask break, every hallway, and even in town after school,” they said. “Now, with the whole school involved, I get roughly 20 submissions a day of Chase.”

Chase was shocked when he realized how much of an impact his presence was making. “I was at home and I was like ‘oh my god,’” Chase said. “I started laughing because it’s so funny.”

The account features Chase riding a four-wheeler, working behind the counter at Gofers, running the girls’ volleyball practice, and being an all-around icon. How does Chase seem to be everywhere at once? “I bike all around town,” Chase explained.

Chase and the account owner are now very good friends. “The owner is really nice, and a really good person,” Chase said. The account owner echoed the same sentiment. “Chase loves the Instagram and encourages it,” the account owner said. “He constantly tells me to keep posting and have more creative captions. It’s really nice to see the school come together with their love for Chase.”

Being new to NCHS and New Canaan, social media has allowed Chase to quickly become friends with everyone. “I moved here last February,” Chase said. “I was really scared because I didn’t know what to expect. It has been a really good experience.”

During a ten-minute interview, Chase was stopped by over twenty different people; he yelled ‘hi,’ took pictures and high-fived his adoring friends and fans. He clearly has the “it factor.” “Everyone loves Chase because he’s super charismatic and funny,” the account owner said. “His personality is through the roof.”
