For the first time in seven years, the Rams’ football team will not be playing in the State Championship game. The Rams’ season came to an end on Sunday, Dec. 1, when they fell to Windsor by a score of 27-21.

Most of the big games this week were played on Sunday, but the biggest news in the NFL happened on Saturday. Jovan Belcher, a 25 year old Chiefs player from Long Island, committed murder-suicide when he killed his girlfriend and then shot and killed himself at the team’s practice facility. This was obviously a terrible tragedy, and I won’t get into too many details, but you can read an article here that gives you more information.

Despite losing many of their top scoring seniors last year, the girls’ swimming and diving team dominated this season. After their impressive performance in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Academic Conference (FCIAC), the girls continued to prove their strength, placing second in both the Class L state meet as well as State Opens.

After three State Championship appearances and one Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) title, Coach Alex Whitten has decided to step down as the boys’ head lacrosse coach. Whitten left to become the new coach at Western Albemarle High School, located right outside Charlottesville, VA. He informed Athletic Director Jay Egan of his decision on Oct. 23, and let the team know the following day.
