On Tuesday, Apr. 5, all Honors and AP Physics students participated in the annual Physics Bowl held at the high school. This comes on the heels of the Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) team’s impressive win at the March 15 JETS state championships at New Haven University. Varsity “A” and Junior Varsity brought home gold medals in their divisions, and Varsity “B” earned bronze.
On Friday, April 15th, dozens of students throughout the high school participated in the 13th annual National Day of Silence, in order to address the silencing effect of anti-LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans-gender) harassment and bullying. Participants attended class as usual, but refrained from speaking as they held signs and posters to convey their message.

When school lets out June 22, some students will head off to work while others pack their swimsuits and flip flops and retreat to the beach. The just short ten weeks of summer can be spent in a multitude ways: at home hanging with friends, involved in a college preparation class, honing language skills abroad, whipping out a paint brush in community service, or working for minimum wage as a Waveny Camp Counselor.

Dr. Bryan Luizzi, Principal’s Tony Pavia’s successor, visited NCHS on Friday, April 8, and was given by a tour by Mr. Pavia and Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Abbey.
“It’s a big change [for the school] – it’s a new principal,” Dr. Luizzi said. “Anytime you move into a new school community there’s a little anxiety around getting to know everybody, but it’s something I enjoy. My favorite part of the day is when I get to move around the building and talk to students and people.”
