“No event in history is more misunderstood than the Vietnam War.” This infamous quote by former President Richard Nixon opened the annual Vietnam Symposium on Nov. 9, held in the Wagner room for AP United States History and American Studies students. The assembly, organized by History Department Chair Richard Webb, involved a panel of Vietnam veterans, each there to share their story.

On Oct. 12, Superintendent of Schools David Abbey announced his retirement. Dr. Abbey will officially end his term on July 1 after serving the NCPS school system for nearly twenty years.

On Friday, Sept. 23, students met in their homeroom classes and were asked a series of questions regarding how they see themselves and the school in the future. These questions are part of a self-study the school has to go through for the process of reaccreditation.

When Hurricane Irene stormed through New Canaan on Aug. 27 and left most of the town without power, it forced the Board of Education to postpone the first day of the school year until after Labor Day. The Board then sought to find ways to modify the school calendar. The board met three times before finally approving a modification suggested by the NCPS
