It can be said on any Sunday afternoon while students are still holding off on doing their homework, that browsing through photo albums of the weekend’s parties on Facebook is an unofficial pastime of sorts. While the contents of the photos may range from squeaky clean to questionable, there is usually a common theme.

SATs this Saturday

On Saturday the Collegeboard will be administering the SAT Reasoning Test. NCHS is not a testing center for this test, and therefore students are taking the test at either Darien High School, Westhill High School, or Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

The Collegeboard only offers the Reasoning Test on the March test date, so students who wish to take a Subject Test must wait until the May or June test date…

Boys’ hockey defeats East Haven 6-3 in opening round of State tournament

Last night, the third seeded boys’ hockey team came out victorious over the 14th seed East Haven Yellowjackets with a score of 6-3.

The Rams came out strong scoring two goals in a 1:30 minute span in the first period. Junior forward Jimmy Joe Granito, who placed a wrist shot top shelf from the top of the circle with 8:55 remaining in the period, scored the first goal. Junior defensemen Brian Tohir scored the team’s second goal of the period by cranking a slap shot from the weak side point with 7:25 remaining, beating East Haven goalie Sam Gavigan five-hole…

Thoughts on the Oscars

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards aired Sunday night, despite contract disputes between cablevision and ABC that led to the temporary suspension of the channel. The big winner of the evening was The Hurt Locker, which took home Best Picture along with 5 other Oscars.

We felt it necessary to post our reactions to our Oscar picks outlined on page 14 of the latest issue of the Courant. However, we would first like to comment on the overall quality of the award ceremony itself. The energy of the hosts, presenters, and opening act featuring Neil Patrick Harris (Starship Troopers bug psychic anyone?) was much grander and more entertaining than in previous years. A tip of the hat to the Academy.
