Off-Campus Lunch Favorites Square Off

Going off-campus has been a tradition for almost a decade for students. However, determining which of the countless delis to choose always plagued upperclassmen seeking the perfect. In order to settle this debate, we surveyed 200 students in order to nominate three sandwiches, one from each of students’ favorite lunch establishments: Tony’s Deli, Forest Street Deli and Chicken Joe’s.

Teens take on the challenge of writing a novel in one month

Imagine this: A student given one month to write a 50,000 word creative piece (over 100 Microsoft Word pages), who’s keeping in mind that it’s not even for a grade. Many may be convinced that no one on Earth would ever choose to do such an assignment. On the contrary, students enjoy participating in this opportunity to expand their creative writing skills and experience the daunting task of novel writing.

Students spread the Valentine’s Day spirit

Valentine’s Day traditionally sets the scene for people to get close to one another. Romantic love is celebrated by the giving of flowers, chocolates and greeting cards that have a quirky but cute sayings. Monday, February 14 is the perfect opportunity for NCHS students to wear their hearts on their sleeves, to muster up all their courage and give their hearts to that special someone.

The pen pals of Bus 13

While most morning bus rides consist of students half-asleep finishing breakfast, listening to iPods, or rushing to complete last night’s math assignment, those sitting in the back of Bus 13 are waiting to make the turn at Darien’s Barringer Road. The bus riders are preparing to swap their latest note with Darien High School (DHS) sophomores Spencer Dean and Andrew Fletcher.
