First NCHS-hosted Debate Tournament

On Saturday, Mar. 5, the Debate Team co-hosted the Connecticut Debate Association tournament with Darien High School, splitting the state teams in half. Of a total of 360 debaters participating, 140 participated in NCHS. Being the first year that the debate team was designated as a legitimate interscholastic athletic team, spirits were high and students were ready to debate the topic of whether the U.S. should prioritize democracy over stability.

The Issue of Abortion: Private or Public?

New laws regarding abortion are being proposed and passed across the country, heating up the debate on both sides. So we feel that it is time to tackle the controversial issue.

Steffi: First off, I would like to point out that I am 100% pro-choice. A woman’s body is no place for a politician to be discussing legislation.

Sarah Mannelly reaches 1,000 points

On Saturday, Feb. 19, junior Sarah Mannelly became the first woman in NCHS history to score 1,000 points. Sarah’s record-setting shot was a three-pointer in the third quarter of the FCIAC quarter-finals against the Danbury Hatters, giving the Rams a six-point lead. New Canaan ended up beating the Hatters 51-46 and advanced to the FCIAC semi-finals, where they lost 51-33 to the Ridgefield Tigers on Feb. 22.
