Every time I go to the stadium, I can’t help but question if it was really worth it. As you walk by on one side of the street, you see an absolutely beautiful $1.5 billion mecca of baseball, while on the other side of the street, you see the old stadium looming, empty and silent. How can your heart not wrench when you see one of the greatest baseball stadiums of all time in neglect?

Girls tennis wins FCIAC and State Title

On Wednesday, May 26, the girls tennis team clinched their first FCIAC championship since 2006. The girls faced the Greenwich Cardinals, who they previously beat 4-3 earlier in the season. Their regular season victory broke the Cardinals’ three year, 83-match undefeated record. Confidence from that match fueled the Rams to beat Greenwich in the FCIAC final, 5-2. “I was very confident with our team coming into this match,” Head Coach Gail Overbeck said. “With the way our singles players have been playing in addition to our first doubles, I would be surprised if they didn’t win their matches.”

Girls Lacrosse falls to Wilton, 12-8, in FCIAC championship

On Saturday, May 29, the girls lacrosse team could not climb out of a 7-0 deficit, falling to Wilton by a score of 12-8. The Rams had high hopes for this game against Wilton, especially because they beat them 20-14 earlier in the season. However, for the third consecutive year, the Rams were unable to come out with a victory in the FCIAC championship game.
