I have no idea why the group A Rocket to the Moon is called an “emo pop quartet” by iTunes, but their song “Baby Blue Eyes” is the second most popular song on their latest album On Your Side (which came out in October ’09) and is my favorite by far.

Being the complete wannabe that I am, I actually looked up the guitar tab and tried to learn how to play it. Baby Blue Eyes is all guitar and the clear voice of a love struck boy, which is why I like it. It’s kind of similar to NeverShoutNever’s song Can’t Stand It from their What is Love? album…

It’s Raining in Baltimore

One of the lesser-known jewels in discography of the Counting Crows is It’s Raining Baltimore. Eternally famous for the upbeat Accidentally in Love, yes, the song from Shrek, It’s Raining in Baltimore is a peaceful and mellow song that doesn’t have much of a goal. From the 1993 album (the year I was born…) August and Everything that was the fastest selling album after Nirvanna’s Nevermind since the success of the single Mr. Jones…

Meet Split Second. A four guy musical group who has self produced their own album on DatPiff.com called Up Past Lights. Although I don’t know much about them, as they are a freelance and self-made group, they seem like sweet guys with major talent at producing music. On the album they go by the names Xcel, Jaxx, and Dougie P.

Today in honor of midterms and my minor concussion that turned me against louder music, I’m going to give you a few songs from my iPod that are more low key and relaxing.

Anyone remember a song called New Soul that was crazy overplayed in early 2008? After being used in a Mac ad it became a top ten hit, but almost no one listened to other songs by Yael Naim. This singer/songwriter/goddess is Franco-Israeli and has the most enchanting voice. Here is a live version of the recorded song Far Far that you can check out…
