NBA lockout thoughts

I don’t claim to know much about the NBA lockout, but I still find it very interesting. On the surface it seems like your average sports stoppage, overpaid athletes screaming for more money, with deep pocketed owners trying to scam together a way to bring in more cash. After reading some more background information and doing some research, I came to a different conclusion; NBA players are actually underpaid.Think about it. The NBA has never been about the teams, at least not really. Sure the Lakers, Celtics, and Bulls all have a rich amount of history and they’ve been the most successful teams in league history. But when most people think of the NBA, they think of Michael Jordan. Jordan isn’t a team (although he now owns one), he was a player. And players are the biggest draw for the NBA. Now, I’m not talking about your run of the mill, 4th best player on an average semi-consistent team, player. I’m talking about superstars. Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dr.J, Scottie Pippen, Kevin Durant. The list goes on and on.

We’re entering week 8 of the 2011 NFL season and the proverbial cream is rising to the proverbial top in the NFL. As legendary coach Bill Parcells would say, “You are what your record says you are.” Or not, because not all schedules are created equal, and quite frankly, some teams have just had fluky wins and losses. So this list won’t mirror the league standings. But without further ado, here are the top 10 teams in the NFL through week 7.
