Last Friday night the boy’s soccer team beat Norwalk 2-1 in the first round of the FCIAC tournament.

After a grueling first half, senior co-captain Tim Pritchard made a goal off of a free kick bent into right corner of the goal. “[Senior co-captain] John-Luke Ferrandino scored the second goal in the lower right corner with 5 to 6 minutes left on the clock and the bench went crazy,” said sophomore Jack O’Rourke.

The boys are optimistic as they advance through the FCIAC tournament. “After beating norwalk, I think we now have the ability to win the whole tournament,” said senior Jake Rosenstein. “We have so much momentum on our side right now and we just want to continue on this great energy for the remainder of the tournament.”

Jake said the “sky is the limit” and said the sentiment is shared by the whole team. “I think the ciac tournament will be another tough test for the team but we’ve shown that we have the drive to push through adversity.”

The boys face Staples next. Due to storm complications the timing of this match-up is currently unavailable. All those interested in attending are encouraged to visit Sports Zone for updated schedules. According to Jake the team is still in high spirits. “We understand we have a tough match ahead of us with Staples but we just want to play them and get retribution for our earlier loss to them,” he said. “I think we are confident we can beat them and we probably should have last time we played them.”
