Last night, the third seeded boys’ hockey team came out victorious over the 14th seed East Haven Yellowjackets with a score of 6-3.

The Rams came out strong scoring two goals in a 1:30 minute span in the first period. Junior forward Jimmy Joe Granito, who placed a wrist shot top shelf from the top of the circle with 8:55 remaining in the period, scored the first goal. Junior defensemen Brian Tohir scored the team’s second goal of the period by cranking a slap shot from the weak side point with 7:25 remaining, beating East Haven goalie Sam Gavigan five-hole.

The boys tacked on three more goals in the second period, including two by senior captain defensemen Bo McGinniss and one by senior captain forward Sam Stanton after a beautiful pass from junior forward Henry Corcoran.

In the third period, the Yellowjackets were on fire, putting three goals past freshman goalie Tim Nowacki in a matter of 3:39 minutes, despite playing a very strong game and finishing with 16 saves. The Rams rebounded as Corcoran scored an empty-net goal to ensure the New Canaan victory.

The boys have advanced to the quarterfinals where they will face the 11th seed North Haven on Saturday.
