The Courant Staff, @NCHSCourant
Even though Junior Prom is over, the buzz of the best dressed is in the air. We sent out a poll to the junior class, and the votes are in. Read below to find out the class of 2017’s favorite looks.
Most Original Girl – Zoe Ehrlich
Wearing a short sleeve dress with cut-outs and lace, Zoe sported a look that has never been seen before at NCHS. Her eye-catching ensemble from For Love & Lemons was a standout at prom. The white lace over the nude bodice popped in photos, creating an unique look. What a trend setter!
Most Original Guy – Sebastian Mauleon
In his all white tux with a black bowtie to match his date’s dress, Sebastian killed it with a clean and professional look. He topped it off with all white shoes, standing out in the crowd of prom photos. His look was dapper and very well planned. Stay classy Sebastian!
Best shoes – Mariana Ferreira and James Freyre
Although getting a dress may be very important for prom, the shoes are just as important too! Mariana wore bright orange Steve Madden heels, matched to her dates bowtie, adding some color to her all black dress. These strappy heels looked great in pictures, way to go girl! Not only do girls focus on the shoes, but the guys do too! James Freyre paired his classy tux with a pair of red and white Jordans. This looked added some fun to his tux, but also made dancing easy!
Best Hair – Spencer Williams
While the man-bun trend is in full swing, it had not quite hit NCHS before prom night. On Friday the 13th Spencer was hoping to be lucky with his slicked back man-bun, and he was. With his hair tie matching his prom date’s hot pink dress, Spencer definitely got credit for his bold look.
Best Short Dress – Tess Rosenberg
What is better than looking fancy and feeling comfortable? Nothing! With a lot more room for dancing, Tess was smart and looked fantastic. Her long sleeve black dress from Togs with a lacy top was stunning. Way to go Tess!
Best Patterned Dress – Claire Campbell
While many kept it simple for prom, some girls wowed the crowd with fun patterned dresses. Claire Campbell wore a white strapless dress with a simple but beautiful blue pattern. She matched this original dress with a necklace, tying the whole look together. We loved your dress Claire!
Best Dressed Couple – Lauren Carlson and Abhinav Pal
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Abhinav! With matching red outfits, this couple decided to recreate a popular photo online. At first glance the couple went for the classic look with Abhinav’s bowtie and cummerbund matching Lauren’s red dress, but under his white shirt there was a secret Superman suit from Walmart. This couple definitely saved the day at prom.
Cutest Couple – Paige Freyre and Jackson Appelt
No NCHS student can deny how cute of a couple Paige Freyre and Jackson Appelt are. Dating since middle school, these two were expected to look killer and post cute pictures. Matching in black, they amazed the crowd with their look.
Should Have Been Prom King – Chris Harte
From his absolute killer moves on the dance floor, to his very fine champagne bowtie and vest, Chris was the epitome of everything prom. There were high expectations for Chris’s look, and he brought it. You could find Chris smiling in pictures with his beautiful date and dancing wildly to Soulja Boy. If NCHS were to crown a Prom King, it would most definitely be Chris Harte.
Should Have Been Prom Queen – Shannon Bucci
Shannon Bucci is known for her awesome style and AMAZING dance moves, which perfectly sums up why she was voted “Should Have Been Prom Queen” by the class of 2017! In her beautiful maroon dress from Lulus, Shannon styled her hair in a boho up-do. After pre-prom, Shannon danced the rest of the night.
Best Dressed Male – Rajon Mitchell
Going into prom, everyone knew Rajon Mitchell would be a sight to see. With his all white tux and bright red bow tie to match his date’s dress, his look was one for the books. This track star won the race in the votes.
Best Dressed Females – Emma Nolan and Margaret Wise
These ladies looked so great, we couldn’t decide who looked better! After tallying up the votes, both looks tied. Emma wore a purple and gold dress with red and blue detailing from Greece while Margaret wore a sparkling blue body tight dress from Bloomingdales. Both of these dresses added originality to the dance floor and the preprom photos!
