Have cliques clicked into place for good?

When I look around the lounge during the lunch periods, the four grades are plainly divided. The seniors and juniors sit close to the buses, the sophomores sit smack in the center, and the freshman sit next to the courtyard. This deep division within our student body has become a tradition; incoming freshman always take their place, and gain better seating as they climb the NCHS hierarchy.

Free the Children Water Walk

The charity driven and education promoting organization, Free the Children, strives to empower youths to free the Earth’s population of the cycle of poverty. On April 22, the New Canaan High school Free the Children club held a Water Walk Fundraiser at Waveny Park. Although the event only lasted a few hours on Saturday, the club had been planning the fundraiser since the fall.

The charity driven and education promoting organization, Free the Children strives to empower youths to free the Earth’s population of the cycle of poverty. Locally, Free the Children clubs have been organized as schools such as NCHS, Saxe Middle sChool, South School and Saint Lukes.

“The goal of free the children is to empower youth to change the world,” junior Liza Swindell said. “They work 50% locally and 50% globally to help with such things as sustainable development, health care and education.”

A young man is soaked with sweat as he prepares for his encore performance with his college band in the city of rock. It’s a Saturday night and the previous nights without sleep are noticeable by his wild, untamed hair and heavy bags under his eyes. As he gets on stage, the young man begins to nod his head as he strums the opening chords of The Doors’ “Peace Frog.”
