Are we really doomed?

The anticipated arrival of the predicted Doomsday is finally upon us, and with it comes strong, opposing beliefs. Many people relate December 21, or the supposed end of the world, to the ancient Mayan calendar, which ends on the winter solstice of 2012. According to NASA, the entire story began with claims that a supposed planet was headed toward Earth in the year 2003. This was completely false, and when the predicted Doomsday in May 2003 didn’t happen, the date was moved to 2012.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday put retailers on top

Every year, the Friday after Thanksgiving is when retailers open up stores with special sales and promotions for holiday shopping. The term “Black Friday” has been used because retail stores usually have enough sales this Friday to place them “in the black”, or having more profits than losses.
The superstore Target had doorbuster deals for as low as $5 and $10, starting at 9 p.m. Thanksgiving night. At 5 a.m. on Friday morning, Wal-Mart opened their doors with great deals on everything from electronics to jewelry. Deals like these attract people looking to save some money on holiday gifts. In fact, a record 59.1 billion was spent shopping this Thanksgiving weekend according to learnvest.com.
October pep rally on Dunning to cap spirit week
During the week of Oct. 22, students will be participating in Color for a Cause Day, High Society Day, Costume Day, Turn Back the Clock Day, and Red and Black day in order to celebrate Spirit Week. The Student Coalition and administration have organized the week.
