Girls’ Basketball Bounces Back

With the loss of key player Sarah Mannelly, class of 2012, the girls’ basketball team faced a challenge entering the 2013 season. According to senior captain Georgia Hunsinger, “Going into the season I think it’s safe to say none of us had high expectations. We had just lost a valuable player (Sarah Mannelly) and we didn’t doubt our abilities, but weren’t extremely confident that we’d be as much of a competitor in the FCIAC as we had been in the previous years.”

The start of a new year also brings a new anchor to the Rams Sport Report, junior Johnny Osterndorf. When TV Broadcasting teacher Roman Cebulski declared that a new anchor spot would open, many jumped at the chance to pursue a higher role in the weekly announcements.

Despite losing many of their top scoring seniors last year, the girls’ swimming and diving team dominated this season. After their impressive performance in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Academic Conference (FCIAC), the girls continued to prove their strength, placing second in both the Class L state meet as well as State Opens.
