Students recite verse at 4th Annual Poetry Fest

In honor of National Poetry Month, the Fourth Annual Poetry Fest was held in the Wagner Room at 7 p.m. on Apr. 14. Hosted by English teachers Kristen Brown and Melissa Rampelli, students gathered to perform their original work. Over 60 student poets presented their poetry, each competing for one of the four awards including Best Poem, Best Imagery, Best Presentation of a Poem and Best Play on Words. Four honorable mentions were also given in each award category.

An ordinary classroom is visualized with a dry-erase board or a lecture in front of the class. NCHS has been breaking this stereotype by including alternative learning techniques to enhance the comprehension of a lesson. One effective way teachers have been using these techniques is by integrating a mock simulation with the curriculum.

Carriage Barn exhibits student artwork

Located in Waveny Park, The Carriage Barn Arts Center is a a member-supported, non-profit organization that strives to present quality art to the community through a number of annual exhibitions. From March 13 to April 17, a collection of artwork from NCHS students will be displayed in their “Through Our Eyes” showcase. It features all types of media from the students of AP Photography, Advanced Digital Media, Studio Art, Documentary Photography and Photoshop Design.
