Ryan Prindle is a senior at NCHS.  He is involved in the theatre program, but also has a passion for various types of dancing, his favorite being hip-hop.  He is currently taking classes at the New Canaan Dance Academy to further his artistic sport.

When did you begin dancing?

I began dancing in the fourth grade.  I always liked performing, so I was like, why not!

Why is hip hop your favorite type of dance?

Hip hop is my favorite because its very free flowing and unlike other styles, you can add your own flavor and own “swag” and it feels very real. I just love it!

What draws you to dancing specifically?

What draws me to it is the fact that it is expression and art. It can be happy sad or dark or fun and tell story or just for fun. It’s an escape that can bring you anywhere.

How has dancing at NCDA helped your theater performances?

It’s given me an edge I feel. Because of NCDA, I can do tricks and moves that maybe others can’t do, and our director uses me for lots of tricks and stuff. It also helps with technical stuff too.

Is there a particular dance move that you specifically enjoy/are good at?  Why?

I love to do flips and stunts. It’s kind of a rush and just fun to do.

Tell us a little bit about NCDA.  How intense are the programs?  How do the teachers help you progress?

NCDA is very fun. It can get very hard sometimes. And the teachers can get tough but it’s all to make me better and they really do care about our talents. It’s all constructive.
