It’s fun to have a crazy group chat with your friends, but what isn’t fun is paying for the SMS. That’s where WhatsApp comes in.

WhatsApp is a smartphone app that allows texting between multiple people without the added fees of a normal group chat. It also allows different types of phones to text between each other and media to be sent free of charge while keeping your Internet data plan the same, no matter what.  Additionally, you can set status updates, post a profile picture, and save or delete group messages, making WhatsApp a kind of “texting Facebook” to more easily keep in touch with your friends without paying the added fees.

The app connects directly to your contacts, making it available to use once you hit download. When you get a message, a push notification is also activated just like a normal text.
Their loaded website also comes ready with FAQ’s for each platform

This highly popular app is available for iPhone (iOS 4.3 or later), Android, BlackBerry, Nokia s40, Nokia Symbian, and Windows Phone.
