If you haven’t been hearing buzz about this app yet or seeing it pop up on your news feed, you will be very soon. Considered by The Next Web to be “a Tumblr user’s best friend,” GifBoom is a photo app that’s gaining recognition as the perfect tool to make videos like the ones common on Tumblr.

To use the app, you just press the camera button and it takes multiple pictures in a row, almost to the point of taking a video. Then, it uses those pictures to create an “artsy flip book”. You can speed up or slow down the rotation through the photos and manipulate them any way you want: add borders, change the colors, flip the direction, or add text. Wanna be even artsier? You can import a series of photos and use them to make a more dramatic video, like user monomolove did.

After making a GIF you’re really proud of, there are buttons to share with Facebook, Twitter, Email, MMS, and of course Tumblr. So unleash your inner hipster and download the app for free to your iPhone or Android.
