More than 1,100 students, parents, and faculty members raised more than $47,000 in donations for the New Canaan Scholarship Foundation at the third annual Color Run on Saturday April 27.

NCSF co-chairs Lori Byrne, Susie Catlin, and Kate Van Dussen were grateful for the support from the participants and more than 100 volunteers. “This helped us educate so many people across town about what the NCSF fund is and the huge impact it makes for the high school students with financial need.” said Ms. Byrne.

Due to the success of the event and the participants, the NCSF is able to reward many seniors who need the support. Principal William Egan underscored the importance of the work of NCSF, “Each recipient only receives an average of around $2000,” said Mr. Egan. “So the more people we get out to support the Color Run, the more money for our students who really need it.”

Not only was the event beneficial for the recipients, but gives the participants a time to have fun and come together as a community. Despite the event being held at the high school, many other towns helped out, “The publicity for the event was led by each of the elementary schools and Saxe principals who supported the race with fun promotional videos,” Ms. Byrne said. “Each school created a faculty team who also ran the race.”
